Focussing your mind
Hidden In Christ...
Paul the Apostle reminds us in Colossians chapter 3 verse 2 & 3 to 'set your mind on things
above, not on things on the earth.' Why should we do this? He goes on to answer that
we should focus on heavenly things on Christ things because, 'for you died, and your life
is hidden with Christ in God'.
This is fascinating! We are hidden, as one would hide from a fierce storm or earthquake
in a safe place where the danger can not reach you, in God with Christ. We are not alone
in this world or in our circumstance(s). Christ is there with us, hiding us in God the Father.
I like how the Message translation puts it:
v2. 'Pursue the things over which Christ presides.
Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed
with the things right in front of you.
Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ-
that's where the action is.
See things from His perspective.
That is powerful. That is glorious. See things from Christ's perspective not the earth's
or your own.
That is Good News. And because we are hidden and protected, we may and should
focus and spend our energy and though life on Christ on heaven on helping those
around us who do not know Christ yet or are not hidden with Christ in God, like we are.
We should not stress and be concerned with the world and the way it is going but rather
focus on heaven on Jesus for our redemption draws near.
Be blessed this week as you focus on Christ and the future in Him.
